Hey everyone again,
Sorry I did'nt do what I was suppossed to do on the first blog, but it was hard enough for me to just register for the blog site so I forgot what I was suppose to do. Anyway, I am taking this course mainly to better understand legalese. I'm also trying to get a feel for the legal profession to see if it is something I could possibly make a career of. There are many areas of law that I feel are interesting, but I think litagation in any area would be my favoirite part of law-- I'm thinking more like a mediator. I think it is so interesting to look at the same situation from 2 different perspectives. My favorite legal television show, hands down, is the practice. To be honest, I would like to learn more about more than 1 area of law so can't answer the last part of the blog. Hope the second time around is a litte better than the first.

Hi All,
It was great to meet you all tonight in class - I think this class is going to be great fun (as well as a lot of work). I'm taking this class as the 1st step in reinventing myself and my career. I've always been interested in the law, and now I can do something about it. My immediate goals are to graduate from the accelerated legal studies track in 8 months, land a job as a paralegal with a law firm and then apply to law school. I'm particularly interested in international law - specifically human rights law. I'll be about a thousand years old by the time I ever earn a law degree, but I'm hoping that I'll still be able to have a career and practice human rights law. We'll see...meanwhile it's time to focus on the three classes I'm taking over the next 10 weeks and do the best I possibly can. As Bill Murray said in What About Bob "baby steps, baby steps" As far as my favorite legal tv show goes, I'd have to say 'Boston Legal'...I like quirky characters and the writers of the show do tackle some fairly important and timely issues over the course of a season. As far as an area of the law I'd like to learn more about, I'd like to know more about the U.S.'s track record and positions taken in international law, and where that intersects with current and past administration policies.

Hello everyone.

My name is Bob (or Robert, I go by both). I'm a member of the Front Row Firm.

I'm taking this course as the first part of the Accelerated Degree program. I'm going to take the AAS Degree into the USNavy where I will be a Legalman. My favorite legal show is "JAG".

I wish everyone a lot of luck for the course, and I'm looking forward to our next class.

Hello All,

My name is Kanisha White.

I enjoyed meeting everyone tonight and look forward to what we will learn over the next ten weeks!

I am taking this class because I am interested in becoming a Paralegal, of course. I was originally looking in to becoming a lawyer but decided I would do this first before I make a decision on law school. At this point I do not foresee myself becoming a lawyer. My biggest interest is business law. I would like to be a paralegal for a big corporation. The Firm is one of my favorite law movies and The Practice was my favorite law show, unfortunately it is no longer on. I am looking forward to everything I will learn in this course because we all know "the more you know, the more you grow".

Thanks, K.

Hi, I am also a member of the Front Row Firm. It was a pleasure meeting all of you and speaking directly to some of you. I have been a legal secretary for over 25 years and do quite a bit of paralegal work now. I decided this would be a good career move since I have not been in school for quite sometime; this is what I know. I love law. Favorite shows are Law & Order, all of them, Crimial Minds (favorite topic in law is criminal law). I have actually worked in all aspects of law in my working career. I enjoy them all, the most interesting to me is plaintiff's work wherein I deal with individual people rather than large companies. I do a lot of pro bono work (free) for those in need. I am not sure what I would most like to learn about - but I will say I need to learn about researching cases and citing cases - coming up with what cases would actually be used and where do you draw the line in research. In other words getting to the point.

Hello Its me hubcap! Late Summer or Early Fall is always the best time of year. For me a time of new beginnings and a sense of exploration. I am a Brain Stormers member and I look forward to some more days at the beach, armed with a couple of those cases that face us all. Wow! Those cases that our fearless prof has assigned, I fear will require several "reading between the lines". My immediate future law goal is to take the patent agent exam, make more money in my current job, which is with a railroad personal injury law firm. I don't have a favorite legal "movie", but a play. It is a one act piece about Clarence Darrow. hmm what else...see ya next week!

Hello Class:

My name is Gracie and I am part of "The Determinators" group. I am a legal secretary and have held this type of position for over 12 years now. I have had contact with Criminal, Immigration, Bankruptcy and Personal Injury. I would have to say that Immigration is my favorite specialty. It is amazing the difference you can make in one's life in this area of law. We all have a nitch and I have discovered through the years that law is mine. I am looking forward to obtaining my degree in Paralegal Studies since it will assist me in securing a higher pay and gain more experience in the field. I do not have a favorite law show/movie.

I have been out of the school loop for a period of 8 years. I am actually very excited about being back, but also nervous about the work load.

I look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesdays.

Hi-
I am Sheridan Shauntee, member of The Accelerators. I am taking this course because I am interested in entering the Paralegal field and gaining a better understanding of the different aspects of law. I am not sure of which specialized Paralegal field I want to enter, but I am interested in the IP, Business Law, and Ligitation areas.

The legal show that I watch the most is Law&Order: SVU.

Hello
My name is Shytia Howard. This is my first semester and year at CCP. I recently just tranferred from Peirce College. I want to become a paralegal so I can gain some hands on experiance in the law field. Hopefully, I can then make a final decision as to whether or not I want to pursue becoming a lawyer.

I am John Casper of the "Accelerators". I've long loved the area of law and interpersonal relations, and have romanced the idea of going to law school. Most of my course work has been in communications and justice. I am in the paralegal program for practical and personal reasons. It is the fastest route to good paying nine to five employment. In addition, I feel it will be a good way to gauge if I want to go to law school. My primary interest is constitutional law. A law school client of mine told me that that in law school they call constitutional law the romantic law. Maybe it easier to fall in love with. She really didn't elaborate. However, I have always been one to go with the underdog. When peoples' rights are infringed upon it is usually by a powerful (bully) entity. I want to be the common man's "David" to the "Goliaths" in the world. Since PA workers have so little rights, I have a very strong interest in employment law. My favorite TV show right now is "The Closer"; however, I have long loved all of the "law and Order" shows. Especially "SVU"! My favorite legal movie is "And Justice For All". Al Pacino is brilliant!!
"This whole #&%!ing court is out of order!!" You get the picture. I am looking foward to a great learning experience. I am like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to this stuff. I wish I didn't have to work, so I can watch Court TV all day!

Good Morning,
I may be the person to actually post a blog but here it goes. My name is Tia Oliver. I'm very sorry put I don't watch much TV so I don't have a favorite legal program. ( surprise ) I have a strong interest in becoming a PL for an immigration law firm. I think immigration law is very interesting. i am very focused on the two classes I have in the next 10 weeks. Have a great weekend see you next week!

Hi Everyone,
My name is Wanda Snyder. I initially became interested in law from all the (what I think) are great Criminal/Legal Series:Law in Order in particular. I also used to read alot of books in this field as a child. Recently I have been involved in a personal situation involving a court proceeding and am taking these courses to gain current real-life application. I just started so Im hoping my electives will help me pick my a particular area.

Member of: Front Row Firm
I just started as in Immigration Paralegal. I absolutely love it, as I'm extremely interested in other cultures, languages, and "how/why people come to America." I don't have any background in legal studies, so I'm taking this course to better understand the world of law.

Hey guys,
My name is Andre Jones of "The Bar." I find myself in the Paralegal Studies program of CCP as the result of years of being intrigued and entertained by legal articles and also television shows. What interests me in the Paralegal coursework is my love of research and the anylization of a topic. I would love to work in corporate law dealing with companies or individuals in the sports and entertainment industry. I am and will always be a HUGE fan of "Ally McBeal". I am relativey new to the legal profession so I would like to learn about every ASPECT of the legal profession.

Hello everyone, I have finally arrived. I'm somewhat computer challenged, but I finally got here. I am taking this course because I've allways been interested in the law, specifically politics. However I am presetly employed in the Behavioral Health Field and have been for nine years, but I'm burned out. I hope to learn as much as I can in this class, and may ultimately pursue a law degree. I feel similar to Margartet in that I will probably be "sooo" old before I complete it, but I'm not deterred. I enjoyed the classes so far, and wish everyone much sucess. Oh, my favorite legal show would probable be Law and Order SVU.
